Dentistry – Dental disease can have a profound effect on our pets’ health. Tooth decay may cause issues including halitosis, tooth abscesses, enlarged lymph nodes, sore and tender gums, and even heart disease. Routine dental cleanings can help prevent numerous medical conditions, and leave your pet with a clean, healthy mouth.
Emergency and Critical Care – We are available 24 hours a day to provide animal care for those unexpected events. If emergency care is needed after hours, please call our regular office number. You will be directed to our after-hours answering service, where an on-call veterinarian will contact you to determine the best course of action.
Diagnostics – At SVC, we strive to provide your pets with the best healthcare experience possible. Our top-of-the-line diagnostic tools help us to thoroughly diagnose and treat your pet. A variety of IDEXX machines allow us to run in-house bloodwork, allowing us to view results within minutes. We also have the latest in digital and dental x-ray technology, along with an ultrasound machine. Fecal and urinalysis testing is also available.
Surgery – Our doctors recommend that all companion animals be spayed or neutered in order to decrease the incidence of certain cancers, prostate disease, and unwanted behaviors. This can also help minimize the population of feral animals. Other non-routine surgeries are also regularly performed, such as retrieval of foreign bodies from the intestinal tract, broken bone repair, mass removal, hematomas, entropion (eye), and amputations.
Physical Therapy, Laser & Acupuncture – We are pleased to offer a variety of pain management and healing methods at SVC. Laser therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to penetrate deep into the injured tissues. This stimulates the cells to divide, resulting in a noticeably faster healing process. The laser also decreases painful inflammation, making your pet feel better much faster. Laser therapy is completely painless and gives your pet a gentle, pain-relieving, warm sensation during treatment. Acupuncture consists of inserting small needles under the skin at specific points to cause desired healing effects. This causes a stimulation that alters biochemical and physiological conditions to assist the body in healing. For most patients, we use electro-acupuncture, which sends very small, painless electrical signals through the needles for additional healing power. Packages for laser therapy and acupuncture treatments are available for purchase. Or, you can choose a combination of both methods for your pet with our physical therapy packages.
Wellness Care – We seek to help our patients live long and healthy lives. Prevention of disease is of the utmost importance, since many easily preventable diseases can have a significant impact on our pets. Owner education is equally important to us, and your questions regarding nutrition or diet, new pet care, house training, and behavior are always welcome. To ensure your pet remains healthy for years to come, we offer annual vaccines, heartworm testing, physical exams, and routine fecal exams. We also carry prevention for heartworms, fleas, and ticks.
